The Regional Training Workshop on anti-human trafficking to hone the skills of law enforcement entities personnel will take place on Monday at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The workshop, which will span over three days, is organized by the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Participating entities will include a large number of Ministry of Interior officers from the various Police GHQs in the country, as well as representatives from anti-human trafficking entities in the country.
The workshop will tackle several important topics presented by lecturers from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Public Prosecution. Khalid Husein Fakhro from the Ministry of Justice will present a working paper on the anti-human trafficking law in the UAE, titled: “Outlook on challenges facing the law and the strategy adopted to implement it”.
Brigadier General Ahmed Muhammed Bin Nakhira, Director of the Human Rights Department, Head of Committee to Combat Human Trafficking at the Ministry of Interior indicated that the workshop is the appropriate opportunity to exchange proposals, ideas and experiences on the best ways and methods to investigate crimes related to human trafficking.
He added that such workshops aim to hone the skills of law enforcement entities to combat human trafficking. It also aims to train Ministry of Interior’s officers and other anti-human trafficking entities, by acquainting them with the latest developments in the field, and by honing their skills to the highest levels.
Concluding, Brigadier General Bin Nakhira emphasized that the diligent efforts exerted by the State against human trafficking have reaffirmed its global position in combating this dangerous scourge. He stressed the ongoing keenness of the state to enhance cooperation and coordination with the world leading countries to combat this cross-border crime. Finally, he expressed his thanks and appreciation to the police leadership for its continuous support to combat human trafficking crimes.
