In collaboration with the Training Department, the Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters organized a training course for the center’s personnel about “the powers of the judicial officer”.

The lectures were presented by Major Dr. Mohammad Obaid Al Mesmari, Faculty member at the Police Academy and member of the High Permanent Committee for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of the Interior. Twenty participants ranging between officers, NCOs and personnel of the police benefited from the said course.

Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Ben Nakhira, Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center Special Committee emphasized the need to intensify efforts towards development and modernization, and apply the best international practices in the care and rehabilitation of juveniles, in order to reach the finest global positions in this regard.

He noted that the course comes within the efforts deployed to train the Center’s staff, provide them with knowledge and advanced skills, to enable them to fulfill the tasks entrusted to them, according to the legal controls.

Furthermore, Brigadier Ben Nakhira expressed his thanks to the lecturer, Major Dr. Mohammad Obaid Al Mesmari, valuing the issues he has addressed, benefiting the personnel of Al Mafraq Juvenile Care center. He also pointed out the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation in the future in this context. Finally, he recommended distributing the course’s material on all the Center’s staff to achieve maximum benefit.

On the other hand, Dr. Al Mesmari addressed in his lectures, the functions of the judicial officer, the concept of judicial officer, the first-class judicial officers of general jurisdiction, and the second-class of judicial officers of specific jurisdiction. He also tackled the most important controls that must be considered in the line of duty, the limits of powers and authorities, investigation procedures, methods of collecting evidence, as well as some articles of the Juvenile Act, and the terms of reference of the juvenile prosecution division, and many relevant topics. He also submitted some real examples.

Moreover, the participants stressed the importance of the course, which lasted three days, in acquainting them with the main controls that will help them in the fulfillment of their tasks, in order to upgrade work in a better way.

At the end of the course, Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Ben Nakhira distributed certificates to the graduates and honored the participants.
