Environmental friendly furnace to Destroy ammunition at ADP
As part of ADP environment-friendly tools, has set up a new thermal furnace to dispose of faulty and confiscated ammunitions. The equipment started operating at the beginning of this month.
According to Colonel Humaid Saeed Al Afreet, Head of Firearms and Explosives of CID at ADP, the furnace is a mobile thermal processing unit. It is the first of its kind in the Region to destroy ammunitions in a safe and environment-friendly way. It is made by a famous American Company, and it has been modified to fit local needs.
The unit destroys ammunitions through electro thermal technology, separates components (lead, metals and wood) which ammunitions are made of, in order to be recycled. The unit also has a filter to absorb smoke resulting from burning process, and treats it in an environment- friendly method.
