Abu Dhabi Police celebrates World Anti-Narcotics Day
Abu Dhabi Police general Headquarters has organized a celebration on the occasion of the World Ant-Narcotics Day, under the slogan "My family is my happiness…No for drugs". Al Ain and the Western region Police Directorates will celebrate the occasion on Sunday. The celebrations will continue till next Monday.
Brigadier Omeir Mohammad Al Miheiri, Deputy Director General of Policing Operations has opened the accompanying exhibition organized by the Anti-narcotics Department at ADP Criminal Investigations Department (CID), at Al Wahda mall in Abu Dhabi. A number of Ministries, Government Departments and Private Sector Agencies participate in the exhibition.
In his speech on the occasion, Colonel Hammad Ahmed Al Hamadi, Director of CID said "In response to the motto of this year we shall pay great attention to protect families and their members against narcotic drugs and their poisons. The UAE is one of the leading countries in spreading drugs combating programmes and awareness activities, in accordance with our deep rooted approach to protect the family as main pillar of the community. The country leadership spares no effort for the people welfare and prosperity"
The slogan of 'My family is my happiness…no for drugs' is raised this year to highlight the pivotal role of family in keeping the young away from behavioral delinquencies in general and drugs abuse in particular. The exhibitions held at shopping malls. Brochures and publications awareness are distributed to the public. They educate them on the health, social and psychological effects of drugs abuse", added Al Hamadi.
We are as a security organization responsible, together with other community institutions, for confronting and combating narcotic drugs. We that all concerned will cooperate to achieve the aims of the World Anti-Narcotics Day theme. WE shall not forget the efforts that loyal persons we do not know to treat and rehabilitate drugs addicts", added Al Hamadi.
Al Hamad thanked all parties participating in the activities of the event. He told them that their participation and cooperation as partners would enhance the protection of the family members' against these poisons.
The activities include theatrical awareness shows depicting the drastic effects of drugs, different quizzes and distribution of awareness publications.
The participating parties in the activities from ADP are: Anti-narcotics Department, CID, Department of Correctional and Punitive Establishments, Social Supports Centers Department, Medical Services Department, Security Inspection Department (K9) and 999 Magazine. Other government and private sector agencies are: Ministry of Social Affairs, Social Protection Department, Ministry of Justice, Public Relations Department, National center for Rehabilitation, Zayed Military Hospital, Family Development Foundation and Customs Department.
An awareness exhibition will be organized on Sunday in Al Ain Mall. There will be wings representing Anti –narcotics Branch, Community Policing Branch, Correctional and Punitive Establishments Section, Forensic Evidence Section, Security Inspection Section (K9), Media and Public Relations section, Medical Services Section, Police Officers Club and Health Authority in Al Ain.
