The Cultural and Social Activities Section of the Clubs Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ recently organized an Open Day event to acquaint the Ministry of Interior’s officers’ children and students from the different schools in Abu Dhabi with the Hajj and Umrah rituals. The event was jointly organized in cooperation with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the Abu Dhabi Education Council.

More than 250 students; sons and daughters of the Ministry of Interior and Abu Dhabi Police officers, as well as a number of schools students from across Abu Dhabi, took part in the educational event, which included a range of activities and practical exercises about the Hajj and Umrah rituals.

Colonel Saif Al Shamesi, Chief of the Cultural and Social Activities Section at the Clubs Department, underscored the need to educate children on the values and teachings of Islam, and to inculcate the proper ways of performing the Hajj and Umrah rituals in them.

Adding further, Colonel Al Shamesi emphasized the commitment of the Clubs Department at Abu Dhabi Police to constantly organize a wide variety of events and activities; whether related to events and public holidays or associated with good moral education. Moreover, he praised the cooperation between the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the Abu Dhabi Education Council to promote positive and spiritual values in the mind of young people.

For her part, Dr. Naima Al Gharib, Religious Preacher at the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, gave a lecture on the rituals of performing the Hajj and Umrah, as well as their conditions and etiquette in a simple method commensurate with their age. Students were also acquainted with the four basic pillars of Hajj: the “Ihram”, staying in Arafat, the Tawaf Al Ifada and the Sa’I (walk) between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah. Towards the end of the lecture, students practiced the Hajj rituals wearing the Ihram clothing.
