The Punitive and Correctional Establishments Department at Abu Dhabi Police organized a set of recreational educational and social activities in a bid to joy and happiness to inmates and allow them to invest their leisure time in the best possible way. This gesture reflects the significant attention dedicated by the department to inmates.
Colonel Ateeq Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Head of the Punitive and Correctional Establishments at Abu Dhabi Police said that organizing such activities and events for inmates has a positive role in streamlining their integration into society. He added that the department dedicated significant attention to rehabilitating inmates and allowing them to return to society as righteous citizens after serving their sentences, via a set of diverse programs and activities to raise inmates’ morale.
The activities included tug-of-war, gymnastics, volley ball, basketball, and football matches between inmates of the different sections. It also included entertaining performances for inmates and their families, as well as a heritage day highlighting Emirati traditions and customs, traditional food and henna.
The Community Service Department and Al Wathba Municipality participated in the activities and educational and intellectual competitions, by offering valuable gifts that helped bring joy and happiness to inmates.
