According to statistics issued by the Social Support Centers at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ), the department has handled as many as 1,075 social cases between January and September this year, including marital disputes, domestic violence and other family problems.

Brigadier Najim Abdullah Al Hosani, Head of the Social Support Centers Department, pointed out that out of the cases handled by the department, 603 cases were reported personally, 316 cases were referred by the various police stations and other entities, and 156 cases were handled by phone. “Handling such cases was achieved with confidentiality and high professionalism, by qualified and trained specialists, on par with the global best practices,” said Brigadier Al Hosani. Moreover, he indicated that this approach aims to maintain the unity of the family and achieve stable and secure families.

Adding further, the Head of the Social Support Centers stressed the commitment of the Social Security Centers in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western region to support the efforts of Abu Dhabi Police in preserving family stability and security by addressing family issues and social problems, and solving individual problems and family conflicts amicably through early intervention.

Brigadier Al Hosani indicated that the Social Support Centers provide preventive services, by organizing awareness programs for the various segments of society and by disseminating security culture within their areas of competence. “This would increase security awareness among the public, via a series of lectures, publications, workshops, seminars and continuous awareness campaigns,” he continued.

In conclusion, Brigadier Al Hosani explained that the centers tackle family issues and the adequate solutions through purposeful conferences and lectures. He said: “The department has already organized 145 awareness-raising lectures that benefited 7,835 individuals from different segments of society between January and September this year.”
