Two people killed in traffic accidents in Abu Dhabi

An Emirati young man and a German were killed, and several others were injured in separate traffic accidents due to bad weather caused by incessant rains in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Major Yaslam Mubarak Al Tamimi, head of the investigation and accidents' section at the traffic and patrols department of Abu Dhabi police said "the capital and suburbs witnessed since today morning bad weather due to continuous rains and poor visibility that caused a series of traffic accidents".

He added that the UAE national youth, 23, and the German were instantly killed at Sheikh Maktoum road towards Dubai when their car rammed on to the cement barrier. Meanwhile, two women, another German man and their Omani driver sustained serious injuries when their car swerved suddenly due to excessive speed near Umm Al Nar towards Abu Dhabi.

Tamimi said that another major accident involving seven cars occurred at the General Headquarters of Police Bridge in Abu Dhabi. No injuries were reported. Other minor accidents were reported across the city.

He urged motorists to be cautious by reducing speed and leaving enough spaces to avoid collisions.
