Traffic violators to face stiffer penalties from March

The motorists will face stiffer punishment for traffic violations from March first when the federal law 12 of 2007 will come into force said Colonel Gaith Al Zaabi, director of the traffic and patrolling department.
A prison term and a fine of 20,000 dhs await the motorists who flee from the scene of an accident after committing it. The fine structure would be included in the executive regulations of the law.
A committee has been asked to formulate the entire structure before enforcement of the law. The motorists are there fore be very cautious to avoid the impending heavy penalties and follow all the traffic rules and regulations from now on said Col. Gaith Al, Zaabi.
