UAE affirms keenness to enhance joint security work
 

The United Arab Emirates affirmed its constant interest and keenness to support and bolster the joint security work and fulfill the ambitions and aspirations of GCC nations for more integration among all traffic bodies in the GCC states.

This was said by Brigadier Ghaith Al Zaabi, Director General of Traffic Coordination at the Ministry of Interior on the opening address for the meeting of the directors general of Traffic at GCC states which began today at the Al Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi and will last for three days.

Al Zaabi welcomed the participants and conveyed to them the regards of Lt. Colonel H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior who wished success to their meeting and coming up with recommendation that may serve the traffic work at the GCC states.

He concluded his address by extending sincere thanks and appreciation to the Secretariat General of the GCC represented by the Secretary General and the Assistant Secretary General for Security Affairs for their huge efforts which contributed to the current successes of the joint security work.

Ali Hassan Al Nahwi, Director of Safety and Preventive Security at the GCC Secretariat General delivered a speech in which he thanked the UAE for hosting the meeting, and for hospitality and good organization.

During the first session, delegates have discussed a number of topics on the agenda including the memorandum of GCC Secretariat General, the executive actions for the GCC interiors ministers regarding traffic, reports of GCC traffic week 2011, and traffic awareness programs, among others.

The have agreed to keep the slogan of the GCC Traffic Week 2011 “together to reducing traffic accidents” for the next two years.

The participants discussed the paper presented by the UAE on classification of driving licenses in GCC countries. They also discussed setting up of unified database through which electronic traffic systems in GCC counties could be linked with each other to ensure exchange of traffic violations among them.

The Directors General for Traffic in GCC countries continue their meeting tomorrow Monday by holding two work sessions, one in the morning and the other in the evening, to complete discussions on the remaining topics on the agenda.
