Organized by the Police sports association at the Ministry of Interior; H.H Minister of Interior’s 15th Futsal Championship Kicked off on Sunday evening. The championship, held in the Salah-Dine hall at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai will last until June 26 with the participation of ten teams representing the state police leaderships and departments. The launching ceremony was attended by Colonel Abdul Malik Mohammed Jani, Director of Police Sports Association, Colonel Ghanem Ahmed Ghanem, board member of the Police Sports Association, as well as a number of senior officers from the Ministry of Interior and fans of this game.
Two games were held yesterday Sunday. In the first match, the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Department won 6-4 over the Sharjah Police General Headquarters team, after losing 2-1 in the first half. Moreover, Abu Dhabi Police team won 3-2 over Umm al-Quwain team in the second match.
Yesterday’s two matches were part of Group One games. During the first match, Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ team achieved a deserved victory over Umm al-Quwain Police General Headquarters’ Team. ADP General Headquarters’ team was evidently in control during the first half, which ended in his favor by 3 to 2 goals. At the beginning of the 2nd half, Umm al-Quwain’s team tried vainly to repel the opposing team’s attacks, but the game ended with the victory of Abu Dhabi Police team, which won 3-2 over the other team.
The match between the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Department and Sharjah Police teams was filled with excitement. Both teams started out strong whereas the Sharjah team managed to score 2 goals at the beginning of the game and impose its presence during the first half, thus scoring one single goal under heavy attack from his opponent. In the second half, the Sharjah Police team adopted a defense strategy to maintain the outcome of the match, but the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Department team was able to settle the score in his favor, whereas his strikers scored 5 goals in the second half, therefore winning the match 6-4 over the Sharjah team.
On behalf of the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Department’s team, Yusuf al-Qawadi scored three goals, while Mansour Sultan, Ali Al-Shehhi and Badr Ibrahim scored one goal each. On behalf of the Sharjah Police General Headquarters’ team, Abdulaziz Abdullah scored two goals while Ahmed Abdullah and Abdul Rahman Mohamed scored one goal each. Yusuf al-Qawadi won the Best Player Award.
In the second match, Ahmed Naqbi from Abu Dhabi Police team scored two goals while Omar Ali Salmin, Sultan al-Hamadi and Mohamed Ali scored one goal each. Ahmed Said Sultan from Umm al-Quwain’s team scored two goals. Omar Ali Salmin won Best Player Award.
Also within Group One games, two matches will be held tomorrow evening. During the 1st match, the Civil Defense Department’s team will play with Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ team. In the 2nd match, Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Department’s team will meet Umm al-Quwain Police General Headquarters’ team.
Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Department’s team coach, Captain Abdul Rahman Mohammed stated that his team will seek to retain the championship title after last year’s victory. He pointed out that his team has well prepared for this championship for two months by participating in several friendly games, and includes creative and skillful players capable of demonstrating a high level of competitive morals.
