Seek advice from an experienced man rather than from a book

 

Cyber fraud victims talk about their experiences:

 Department of Technical Affairs and Security Media at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Interior, continues its campaign against cyber fraud. The following is a survey carried out by the Department among cyber crime victims.

One national woman identified as H. M. (40 years) lost Dh 100,000 to get false Dh 500,000 though a call from outside UAE. The caller kept asking her to add Dh 3,000 as a balance to the phone, and then Dh 4,000 etc until the amount reached Dh 95,000, in 15 days. Then the individual on the other end of the phone switched his phone for good.

Mohammad has lost around Dh 3,450 to win a prize for Dh 2,000,000. The cases range from false prizes, threats, black magic to violation of e-mails and publishing of personal photos.

According to Colonel Maktoum Al Shareefi, Director of Criminal Investigation Department at Abu Dhabi Police the total amounts stolen from the cyber crime victims are Dh 250,000. He criticizes the naivety of some people who can easily fall victims to such crimes.

Al Shareefi warns people to take utmost precaution against such criminal acts and fraudulent endeavors.
