The Ministry of Interior launched the second edition of the Minister of Interior’s Award for Scientific Research for its staff members. This step falls in line with the ministry’s pivotal efficient role to enhance delivery of services across all its sectors. It also stems out of the Ministry of Interior’s belief in the importance of scientific research, and its instrumental role in advancing communities.
The Award’s Board of Trustees approved the technical standards for the researches participating in the Award during its meeting that was recently held at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees.
The board decided to accept online entries for the Award. The relevant application form was approved and posted on the websites of the Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, in accordance with the electronic services provided by the ministry.
The board also examined a report on the Award’s inaugural edition, which included a total of 122 participating researches, and 169 participants. 117 researches qualified for the final round, and included 87 individual researches and 30 joint researches. Five researches were disqualified.
The Board of Trustees’ members reviewed assessment of the previous edition’s outcomes to be used as criteria to develop processes in the second edition. They also established the second edition’s time schedule and approved the appropriate work plan, which includes organized visits to the various police general headquarters across the country, to introduce the award.
The meeting was attended by Board members: Dr. Matar Hamad Halis Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy; Dr.Husam Sultan Al Ulama, Director General of the UAE’s National Body for Scientific Research; Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Director General of Total Quality at Dubai Police; Dr. Jassim Ali Al Shamsi, Former Dean of the Faculty of Law at UAE University; Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau, the General Secretariat of H.H Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Founding Committee and Head of the Executive Committee of the Minister of Interior’s Scientific Research Award; and Lt. Colonel Dr. Ahmed Ali Al khuzaimi, Director of the Officers’ Training Institute at the Police College.
Major General Al Nuaimi welcomed the new board members, stressing the need to encourage all police staff members to participate in the award, which would enhance the standards of scientific research at the Ministry of Interior. He also instructed relevant authorities to help researchers overcome any potential obstacles they may encounter.
Members of the Award’s Board of Trustees extended their thanks and appreciation to the police leadership for its renewed vote of confidence for the board and the appointment of new scientifically skilled members. They reiterated the award’s importance in enriching scientific research at the countrywide level and the region.
