Saif bin Zayed: The Government works to address demographic imbalance


Under the Chairmanship of Lieutenant General H.H Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and the Chairman of the Federal Council for Demographic Structure, the Council  discussed at its third meeting on Monday, the general strategy of the demographic structure profile in the country , and the most important initiatives which support this strategy, in the presence of Saqer Gobash, Minister of Labor, Deputy Chairman of the Council, Maryam Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Anwar Garqash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs  and Rashed Salem Lekhrebani Al Nuaimi, member and Secretary General of the Federal Council for Demographic Structure.

Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior confirmed that the Government was working to address the demographic imbalance in a way that strikes a balance between comprehensive development and interests of the homeland and citizens and that fulfils our right to secure a promising future.

He also emphasized the importance of empowering Emiratis to hold keys of the economy, through more jobs in the private sector and bigger stake in private businesses.

During the meeting, the Council reviewed a series of scenarios related to better shaping the demographic structure, and choosing the most suitable ones. The Council also presented its strategy to the cabinet and concerned ministries to incorporate it in the UAE's development strategy.

The meeting reviewed demographic policies and initiatives aimed at creating more jobs for Emiratis and decreasing dependence on foreign workers especially in marginal and low-skill jobs.

The Council took note of the executive procedures concerning its initiative which was approved by the Cabinet on the flexible work or temporary work which helps decrease new comers and make optimal use of the existing qualified personnel.

Gobash gave a presentation about the executive decisions issued by the Ministry to implement this initiative. The Council also discussed some regulatory issues, and took the adequate decisions on them.
