Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, assures that supporting the youth is a main interest of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, who considers young talents to be a foundation for prosperity, and one of the main objectives of prosperity as well. His Highness said: “It is our duty to support juvenile offenders, support and protect them if even from themselves, in order to rehabilitate them and integrate them into normal life. We should see them from this merciful perspective.”

Sunday, H.H. Lt. General visited the Juvenile Care Center in Al Mafraq City, where he toured the facility, viewed the training and educational programs and plans, and took note of the available service amenities. During his tour, H.H. also met the juveniles and viewed the readiness of different departments at the center to rehabilitate them and extend care to them. Those departments included social welfare home for boys, sports halls, swimming pools, skills clubs, educational wing, traffic care, and others.

H.H. shared lunch with the juveniles and listened to their impressions and personal experiences as well as the progress they are achieving in the rehabilitation programs. H.H. invited them to work hard and take maximum benefits from those opportunities provided to them by the commandment to shape their skills and improve their capabilities, in addition to directing their innovational energy towards goodness and patriotic work.

H.H. also met a number of released juveniles, wishing them a new start in their social and scientific life away from delinquency. He also commended their progress during the rehabilitation period.

He urged the center’s officials to continue to keep pace with the latest developments, and always be informed about the most successful rehabilitation and educations programs in this field. This step will enable juveniles to return to their normal lives, enjoy the family’s warmth, and successfully participate in the progress and prosperity witnessed by the country.

Lt. General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, called upon all community establishments to make increased efforts to contribute to social roles that target the youth, and find the right method to protect them from factors enforced by the nature of the world today including educational complications, as well as a strong tendency towards materialism and self-centeredness.

H.H. was accompanied by Major General Nasser Lakhreibani Al Nuaimi, General Secretary of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Major General Abdul Aziz Maktoom Al Sharifi, Director General of Preventive Security and Federal Investigation in the Ministry of Interior; Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations; Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed bin Nukhaira Al Mahrami, Director of Human Rights Department in the Ministry of Interior; Brigadier Hussein Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Directorate; and a number of officers.

The Juvenile Care Center has achieved many accomplishments such as entering the Guinness Book for World Records by exchanging 2,800 educational manuals between parents, both locals and residents, and their children in only eight hours, which is considered to be a record time. The exchange was executed under a unique educational initiative organized by the center under the theme “Together Let’s Raise the Level of Our Children’s Behavior.” The initiative was organized in cooperation with the Social Affairs Ministry, the Abu Dhabi Education Council, public welfare institutions, and other public and private authorities.
