Permanent Higher Committee for Child Protection at MoI chaired by Major General Al Nuaimi

 

HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior has issued a ministerial decision to set up a Permanent Higher Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry of Interior chaired by Major General Nasser La Khreibani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of HH's Office, and he is to be the UAE Representative in the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT). He is authorized to sign memos to promote partnerships with public and private entities inside and outside the UAE in child protection-related issues.

According to the decision the committee comprises representatives of all concerned bodies in MoI and 14 members representing public strategic partners, including the Ministry of Justice, Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).

Major General Nasser La Khreibani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of HH's Office and Chairman of the Committee said "The decision of HH has specified the Committee's terms of reference in setting up a center to protect children and deals with all types of crimes that children are exposed to, all phenomena that encourage exploitation of children, finding solutions and initiatives to protect them, monitoring crimes against children online, bad behaviors at cyber cafes by documenting the identity of users and educating families and individuals on ideal use of the internet".

"The Higher Committee will also work on developing and enhancing the role of child monitoring by families, educating them on potential risks, preparing and implementing media campaigns, academic and training programmes to raise awareness of the risks of IT crimes, especially those related to child sexual abuse. In collaboration with relevant agencies", added Al Nuaimi.

"According to the decision any suspected financial dealings online will be closely monitored. Persons involved will be identified and an integrated database about these crimes will be set up. HH by this decision has directed that suitable legislations, in line wit relevant international legislations, shall be studied and implemented. A record containing the names of child sexual abuse crimes culprits shall be kept. Mechanism shall be found to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of such crimes victims", added al Nuaimi.

Selection of the UAE as the only Arab member of VGT is a civilized achievement for the country as one of the leading countries in woman and child protection. The USE police organization is one of the most outstanding organizations which are concerned with both social and protective sides.

Major General Al Nuaimi has attracted VGT attention by his interest in children care and his security and scientific researches in these areas. He has presented leading conceptions that ensure the safety of children within the virtual world, and proposing clear methodology to apprehend and convict involved criminals.

Major Fayssal Mohammad Al Shamari, Liaison Officer and Media Coordinator at VGT said "Documentation of cyber cafes user records is a global practice where the records are kept as references when crime or illegal practice occurs in accordance with legally approved procedures".

"The legal and procedural amendments which will be introduced will observe individual privacy without violating the purpose of these procedures. There will be no observation except in exceptional cases of certain suspected persons, in accordance with approved legal controls", added Al Shamari.&nbs
