Operation room handles record number of calls


The number of the incoming calls to the Operation Room at Abu Dhabi Police in the first half of 2009 reached 1198082 calls, 29432 of which were crime related and 236551 traffic related calls.

Lt. Colonel Nasser Suleiman Al Maskari, Head of the Central Operations Department, stated that the Operation Room is considered one of the world's best equipped security agencies and is fully prepared to deal with any crisis.

 The modern equipments it has like the control system has a comprehensive database made of three inter-related programs, Cortex program which is designed to receive and manage calls to 999, in addition to Storm program that manage reports and contact the concerned authorities, as well as the geographical information systems project.

 He added that the Central Operations Department is working together with Q7 Department to connect between Al-Ain and Al-Garbiyah Region and the Operation Room for air scanning is connected with other public and security departments.

Al Maskari stated that the Central Operations Department, which was granted the ISO 9001:2000 certification this year, is committed to the highest international quality management standards, emphasizing that the department does not only depend on modern systems and up-to-date technology, but it puts much emphasis on the highly qualified human cadres who go under intensive training and continuous development. 547 police personnel have been enrolled in English language and IT courses and practical training to ready them for better performance.

Al Maskari added that the department is working together with other authorities to enhance the quality of the service provided to the public and to minimize the time spent on responding to the incoming calls. The Operations Room is not just coordinating between the clients and the concerned authorities but also controls and manages all operations of which it takes charge in coordination with other departments like traffic department, Q7, Ambulance and Rescue, Saad patrols, Civil Defence, Assahra Vehicle Int., Special Tasks, Crime Scene and Establishments Protection Department.
