The Ministry of Interior organized a workshop titled “We Meet to Excel”, at Sharjah Air Wing headquarters, to view the experiences and accomplishments of governmental authorities and work teams attaining international awards and accreditations in the suggestions’ field, in addition to review opinions, experiences and accomplishments of a number of police leaderships in suggestions and complaints fields.

The workshop was inaugurated by Colonel Muhammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dahiri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, who spoke about the quality of the service provided by police departments in the country, which is considered within the Ministry’s top priorities, in addition to paying attention and catalyzing recruits.

The Director General of the Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior has assured the Ministry’s keenness and commitment to provide the best distinguished services to the clients, suppliers, society and partners, as per its strategy to develop performance in order to obtain the satisfaction of the clients regarding these services, and exceed their expectations.

He also added that the Ministry represented in its concerned bodies, is always keen to sustain the communication with the public in order to reinforce their confidence and assure them about police work through identifying their needs, and listening to their complaints, suggestions, directions and impressions in regards to police’s performance. Moreover this is considered a fundamental way to strengthen the positivity and face the obstacles which reinforces the development and improvement of performance.

He pointed that the complaint and suggestion system was launched in order to open direct communication channels with those working with the Ministry of Interior as well as those benefitting from its services; thus to be aware of their needs, taking into consideration the diversity of cultures and public groups dealing with the police.
The Workshop was attended by Colonel Abdullah Salem Al Dheeb, Head of the Sharjah Air Wing and a number of officials from governmental departments in Sharjah.

Major Ahmed Mohammed Bu Haroun, Director of Complaints and Suggestions Department at the Ministry of Interior, presented a paper on the suggestion program, creativity and innovation at the Complaints and Suggestions Department, noting that the program seeks to achieve several goals such as developing and improving work, encouraging and motivating innovative individuals, excelling in the services field, determining a mechanism to gather ideas and benefit from them, explaining the electronic program of the suggestion system and how to present suggestions for those working in or with the Ministry of Interior.

He discussed mechanisms to evaluate suggestions, starting from receiving the suggestion and considering it, implementing it in a trial application, and honoring the individual who presented the suggesting. He explained the existence of prototypes for evaluating suggestions in several fields such as technical, administrative, financial, social and security fields.

A number of papers in the proposal field and innovation support were presented as well. Feryal Toukel, Executive Director of Community Affairs and Governmental Partnerships Division at Dubai Customs, presented the customs experience in the Platinum Accreditation.

Mariam Ahmed bin Fahed, Head of Suggestion and Complaints Department at the Dubai Municipality, presented the municipality’s experience with suggestion system and clients’ complaints system, as well as the positive results achieved after addressing the complaint.
