MOU between Ministry of Interior and USA Ministry of ational Security

 

UAE Ministry of Interior (MoI) and USA Ministry of national Security (MoNS) have signed a memorandum of Cooperation to develop Emirates Institute of Naturalization, Residency and Ports at MoI. The aim of the MOU is to implement training programmes in immigration process.

MoI is represented by Major General Nasser Al Awadhi Al Minhali, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs, as the First Party. MoNS represented by John Motrin, Undersecretary for Immigration and Customs laws Enforcement, as the Second Party. The ceremony was attended by Richard G. Olson, USA Ambassador to UAE.

According to the MOU the Second party will provide the First Party with expertise and ex-MoNS employees in implement training programmes in immigration process.

According to Major General Al Minhali, both parties will cooperate in fighting crimes related to violation of immigration, customs and residency laws. They will also boost cooperation and friendship between the two countries. MOC aims the development of Emirates Institute of Naturalization and Residency at MoI. The MOC will intensify the training of naturalization Affairs staff and promote their sense of security in a preventive and proactive way. The Institute will provide specialized training and qualifying courses for Naturalization departments at UAE level and secondary school graduates who wish to join this field of work.

Undersecretary of MoNS lauded the selection of American Academy of Immigration and Customs to develop UAE Institute of naturalization and Residency. He said:”We are very interested in this cooperation and exchange of experiences, which enhance security to the interest of both countries’.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Brigadier Mohammad Ghudeir Al Rumaithi, general Coordinator of Naturalization, Residency and Ports, Brigadier Ghareeb Mohammad Darwish Al Hosani, Director General of Outlets and Airports, Colonel Suhail Jumaa bin Kaltham Al Kheeli, General Director of Naturalization, Major Mohammad Saeed Al Amri, Director of Emirates Institute of Naturalization, Residency and Ports at MoI and a number of MoI officers.

The aim of the Institute is to provide the staff with best knowledge and in response to the directives of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy prime minister and minister of Interior. Al Minhali thanked the American delegation for their visit. Both sides exchanged commemorative gifts.    

 

4500 trainees benefit from 200 courses

 

According to Major Al Amri, Institute Director, the Institute has organized 17 training courses since its foundation. 368 trainees, Officers, NCOs and other personnel attended these courses.

2010 plan includes 200 courses and will accommodate 4500 trainees. The Institute is the first of its kind in the Region, to train the staff of naturalization, residency and ports departments.
