loophole in economic and social security series
Lt. Colonel (Dr.) Salah Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior said “The problem of illegal labor is one of the most outstanding problems which the government seeks to solve through a number of laws and legislations due to its negative security, economic, social or legal effects and its close connection with the country demography. The violators sector represents a dangerous loophole in the economic and social security series, as violators do not comply with the community rules and laws and they violate them according to their interests. They will do everything to hide themselves and to remain in the shadow”.
Al Ghoul has indicated the importance of “Sahim” Campaign, organized by the ministry of Interior, represented by the Department of Violators Follow up and Foreigners Affairs of the office of the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalization, Residency and Foreigners Affairs. It is being implemented by the Department of Security Media at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Media Company, Civil Community Institutions and their members and authorities concerned with educating the public on the risks of this phenomenon.
He has warned against violation of foreigners’ entry and residence law or harboring violators and infiltrators under any plea, due to the security, social and economic risks. The authorities concerned cooperate to curb the remaining of this phenomenon, urging the public to increase cooperation with security authorities to protect our community from all types of crime. Maintenance of security and stability requires the participation of all community members, in order to provide protection for all. Citizenship and residency impose rights and duties, including respect of the law and not disturbing security by harboring illegal residents.
All community categories shall perform their national role and enhance MoI efforts to change some behaviors which do not consider the national interests and employ violators in an illegal way. They should provide information to authorities concerned about violators and illegal residents. All citizens and residents shall contribute effectively to the efforts of responsible parties, because their security is connected with their community stability.
The violation categories include; infiltration through land and sea borders, illegal residence, remaining in the country after expiry of residency or not renewing it, absconding and working for people other than the sponsor.
Illegal resident always seeks his own interests and secures his existence in the country, whether by working for others or resorting to illegal methods such as fraud, theft, misrepresentation etc in order to get money. Illegal resident may commit indecency crimes, sexual harassment, and prostitution to get money, believing that he will not be punished. He will deported from the country if one day is nabbed during one of inspection campaigns.
Law Respect Culture Bureau manual, which has been distributed to all laborers in collaboration with concerned embassies, shows that violation of the country lws renders the individual liable to law punishment and being exploited by others. Thus they forfeit their rights against what they earn by their illegal work.
