A symposium on ‘modern plans and methods for law enforcement training’ began today at the Police College which organizes the event in collaboration with Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
the symposium, held under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lieutenant General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, brings together representatives from the Arab ministries of interior, justice and information, as well as security organs officials and experts from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon and Sudan.
In his opening keynote ceremony address, Colonel Saif Ali Al Kutbi, director general of the Police College said this symposium deepens the channels of effective communication among the educational and training institutions at all levels. The rapid developments in today’s world, the fast urban growth and recurring changes of events place a huge responsibility upon us to develop our training plans in order to enhance the efficiency of our security organs and human and physical capabilities, he added.
Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Sha’ir also delivered a speech on behalf of Dr Abdulaziz bin Saqer Al Ghamedi, Chairman of NAUSS. He said: competency-based training is important for sustainable development of Arab security organs.
He pointed out that the symposium aims to develop security cadres and supply them with knowledge and skills on planning and training. It focused on the most important modern methods that fit the nature of security organs in the Arab world, he added.
The first working session, chaired by Major General Dr. Hassan bin Ahmed Al Shehri, comprised two papers. The first paper on the guidelines strategy on security training was delivered by Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Sha’ir. The second paper titled ‘defining training requirement is a basis for planning process of training in security organs’, was presented by Dr. Tahseen Ahmed Al Trawna.
Three working papers have been presented in the second session which was chaired by Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Sha’ir. The first paper on ‘reviewing the philosophy on which training plans in security organs is based’ was presented by Mohammed Hassan Al Azazi.
Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al Deraij spoke about the ‘quality security training: establishing an Arab model for classification of quality standards in security training’. The third paper presented by Dr. Major Nasser Mohammed Al Baker, Director of post- graduate Studies Department at the Police College. He tackled the strategy of executing training programs at the UAE Ministry of Interior.
