Collision from behind is a common type of accidents: Traffic Researcher

Dr. Jihad Asbeitah, general manager of Emirates Driving Company considers organization of traffic awareness campaigns is a top priority to improve traffic situation and to enhance positive behaviors. ADP GHQ campaign ‘Keep space before it is too late” is important to remind drivers with this rule.

Our school teaches trainees to keep a safe distance between vehicles. Our curricula are designed according to the latest driving techniques. The ADP theme is already applied in our driving lessons. Our company strategy is coordinate with the authorities concerned in the country to make use of their experience in this field.

Mr. Mahmud Mohammad Abdul Qadir, a Researcher at ADP Center of Research and Security Studies says driving is a skill where the person uses four of his five senses, in addition to expectation sense. Therefore, the driver shall concentrate only on driving and nothing else. Collisions from behind are the most prevailing traffic accidents especially in cities. The driver in front has to slow down when approaching traffic signal or if he wants to turn right or left. In such cases if the driver behind is not attentive the accident will take place (Defensive driving).

Keeping a distance is one of the most important skills of driving. Each driver should adhere to this skill in order to protect himself and other road users. According to Traffic Regulations “Each road user must adhere to traffic rules and ethics, follow traffic signals, signs and traffic police instructions …”.

Drivers shall keep safe distance between vehicles and shall not apply their brakes unnecessarily. Keeping a distance between vehicle is obligatory by law, but it is a precautionary action as well.
