3rd meeting of GCC interior undersecretaries begins in Abu Dhabi
Al Sha’far: to maintain stability and prosperity towards more integration
The two day meeting is held in preparation of the 12th meeting of interior ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which will be held next Tuesday at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
In his opening speech, Al Sha'far welcomed the GCC officials in UAE and conveyed the greetings of H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and his wishes for the success of the meeting.
He noted that the agenda of the meeting includes many security issues awaiting appropriate recommendations to strengthen the process of joint security work and achieve the aspirations of the leaders and the people of the GCC.
He also stressed his confidence that the meeting will bring forth recommendations achieving the desired goals and take appropriate decisions on all the topics to be submitted before GCC Ministers of Interior at their next meeting in Abu Dhabi
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the GCC Secretariat General for its huge efforts which led to present successes.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Salem, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia noted that is held during an extremely delicate cirmostances which the Arab region is passing through. He stressed the need of GCC countries to act collectively and cooperate to confront these challenges firmly.
He added, “We in the Gulf region are lucky that leaders and peoples are in one trench”, thanking United Arab Emirates for hosting the meeting, wishing success for all.
He welcomed Colonel Hazza Al Hajeri, assistant secretary general for security affairs and greeted him for the confidence placed on him by GCC Interior Ministers. He thanked former assistant secretary general for security affairs for his efforts while in duty. He also welcomed Lt. Colonel Ghazi Abdul Rahman Al Omar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and head of Kuwait delegation who participates for the first time in the meeting and wished him success.
Brigadier Hassan Eissa Al Sameem, Assistant Undersecretary for Human Resources at the Minister of Interior in the Kingdom of Bahrain delivered a speech in which he thanked, on behalf of the government and the people of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the people and governments of the GCC countries for their honored positions towards Bahrain during past events.
Then Colonel Hazza Al Hajeri, assistant secretary general for security affairs delivered a word in which he expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the UAE Ministry of Interior for hosting this meeting.
“We in GCC countries are facing regional and global security challenges, which requires us to take precautions and enhance security coordination and cooperation in order to be able to face such challenges and keep bliss of safety, stability and prosperity”, said Al Hajeri in his speech.
Then the participants held two work sessions during which they reviewed and discussed the recommendations of the specialized security committees related to enhancing cooperation among the GCC member states in various security fields. Also a number of topics related to combating drugs and differe
