Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, delivered a speech on the occasion of the 41st National Day. Following is the text of the speech:
On the 41st National Day, the UAE is already a well-established, deep-rooted, highly developed country. December 2nd, 1971 was a special date. It was an important turning point in the history of the region and the world. On this day, our founding fathers established the State, based on one opinion, one interest and one hope: to achieve the United Arab Emirates’ prosperity and the welfare of its people.
As we celebrate this solemn occasion, we see lots of evidence that unity and cooperation are the source of power, superiority and pride for any people. Most of those who lived the early stages of the union, remember the glorious establishment of UAE; in a historic moment when our beloved late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the State, agreed with his brothers, their Highnesses, Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates to establish an independent state. This was an important turning point in the history of the United Arab Emirates and the region.
His Highness late Sheikh Zayed was a loving man, united with his people, so they loved him back. They also harnessed their energies and resources, with a firm belief in their objectives and the need to achieve them, by overcoming all obstacles and challenges. All this earned our nation a prominent position, as a result of a long process of effort, perseverance, diligent and hard work on behalf of late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his brothers, the founding fathers of the Union.
The Ministry of Interior was part of this achievement. It contributed to promote the nation on the national and international scene. And thanks to the support of our higher leadership to the Ministry of Interior, our nation has become a haven of security and stability in a region torn by challenges and crises. This unlimited support led to many achievements in the Ministry of Interior, with the implementation of the 2010-2013 Strategic Plan, and what will be achieved by updating the Ministry’s Strategic Plan 2014-2016, in line with the comprehensive strategic development project for the Ministry of Interior. This was demonstrated, locally, by the numerous medals and awards that the Ministry of Interior acquired in the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence program. Moreover, the Ministry ranked third internationally, in community services.
On this day, as we celebrate this anniversary, I would
