Abu Dhabi Police foils smuggling of 2 Million narcotic pills

 

The term "Bu Setaif", the agreed pass word for delivery, has led to the arrest of an Arab blacksmith with 10 sacks and a bag filled with 2,236,985 narcotic pills, in his possession. They were hidden in a house in Al Ain City. He intended to smuggle and sell the consignment to a drug broker in a Gulf Country.

ADP foiled the operation which was described as "Bu Setaif Drugs" in collaboration with the surveillance and delivery team of the Ministry of Interior of the final destination Gulf Country.

The details of the crime were revealed by Colonel Hamad Ahmed Al Hamadi, Director of ADP Criminal Investigation Department. He said "The vigilance of police led to the arrest of the accused and seizure of the narcotic pills". He added the shipment was smuggled earlier into the UAE through a seaport by hiding it in vegetable and fruits drier containers.

ADP foiled the execution of the operation after a tip off that an Arab national a blacksmith identified as "M.M.Aa." planning to smuggle a huge quantity of narcotic drugs, hidden in the country, to another Gulf Country. 

Lt. Colonel Sultan Suwaih Al Darmaki, Head of the Anti Narcotics Section of ADP CID said that in line with ADP GHQ strategy, and in response to the directives of the Higher Command and with continuous coordination and follow up with Anti Narcotics Departments in Gulf Countries, the accused was closely monitored In collaboration with the country of destination which sent representatives in order to get the case details. The aim of this step was to apprehend the "Chief" who was in that Gulf Country and the rest of the gang members.

After agreement, a team from the target Gulf Country came to handle the operation which was named 'The Monitored Delivery and Pass', for taking necessary legal procedures. ADP provided all necessary circumstance for the arrest of the accused.  

An integrated security plan was made. An officer from the neighboring Gulf Country was assigned to pose as the buyer. He exchanged the pass words with the accused on phone "I am from Bu Setaif", the dealer reply was "The Birds are in the nest". In order to meet and go together to the house where the narcotic pills had been hidden. Police stormed the house and seized ten sacks and a bag filled with big quantities of narcotic pills numbering 2,236,985 pills. The pills were seized and the accused were arrested in order to bring him before justice.

The team of the final destination Gulf Country brought with them some sacks which were opened to make sure of their contents, in accordance with agreement between both parties, so as to arrest the "Chief" and other suspects in that Gulf State. The operation was a result of the cooperation between Gulf States.

The accused confessed to having possessed the drug shipment and alleged that it belonged to a relative living in that Gulf State. He was forced to receive it. The shipment was hidden in the parts of an damaged vegetables and fruits drier in a seaport in the country.
