A symposium titled “security is the responsibility of everyone," called on the owners of companies to educate workers about their rights and duties, and applicable laws and regulations in the United Arab Emirates.
The symposium, organized by the Musaffah police station affiliated with the Outer Regions Police Department, in collaboration with the Higher Corporation of Specialized Economics Zones (ZonesCorp) at the headquarters of the Corporation, was intended to raise awareness among workers in the areas of public and traffic safety.
ZonesCorp is one of the of the most important partners of Abu Dhabi Police, and its participation in this initiative comes within the framework of its keenness to contribute to disseminating the culture of respect for the law and efforts to reduce and prevent crimes, said Mohammed Hassan Al Qemzi CEO of ZoneCorp
At the beginning, participants and attendees of the symposium watched a documentary about the role played by the Outer Regions Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police to enhance security, reduce crime, and engage with strategic partners.
Capt. Mohammed Al Harithi, Head of Community Policing at the Outer Regions Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police stressed the important role of those in charge of companies to educate workers about their rights and duties, stressing the readiness of the police stations to receive any proposals in this regard.
First Lieutenant Mohammed Bin Dheban, from the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols of Abu Dhabi Police, reviewed matters relating to traffic safety, saying that educating workers about traffic laws is not the responsibility of traffic personnel alone, calling officials of the companies to contribute to raising awareness among their workers.
He stated that drivers in some companies have been arrested holding light licenses while driving heavy vehicles, others caught driving buses while they were exhausted and some truck drivers caught doing wrong overtaking.
Workers have also been spotted crossing from undesignated areas ignoring using pedestrian underpasses, he noted.
Officials in the companies should educate their workers to avoid such wrong practices, always carry their identity cards, and ensure the validity of the vehicle prior to using it, for the safety of road users.
Then Lieutenant Hmaid Al Ali, from the General Directorate of Civil Defense, said that the Directorate is seeking to achieve the vision of a Ministry of Interior and activate the strategic objectives, including maintaining of public safety and the safety of lives and public and private property, stressing the desire of Directorate to provide the best services to all community individuals and institutions.
He added that the civil defense secures buildings, offers training, educates workers, saying said that safety of the community is the responsibility of all security governmental and private groups , and we must do our best to raise the level of awareness and preparedness for any emergency.
Warrant officer Jumaa Mohammed from the Law Respect Culture Bureau, an affiliate to the Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, gave a presentation on the objectives and functions of the Bureau which includes promotion of culture of respect for the law and public order in the society, and supporting the norms, values, ethics and positive traditions in society.
He pointed out that the Bureau has issued seven legal manuals, one of which relates to workers tilted “worker rights and duties". It also organized many lectures and educational seminars attended by thousands of workers to explain the legal provisions governing
