The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ stresses the need for teamwork to face security challenges. This assertion came in a paper presented by Major General Staff Dr. Obeid Al Hiri Salim Al Kutbi, deputy commander-in-chief of Abu Dhabi Police, at the Homeland Security Summit Middle East, which kicked off today in Abu Dhabi.
Al Kutbi said: “The United Arab Emirates is progressing with steady steps and achieving one success after another in different fields owing to God’s will and to the wise policy of the higher leadership. The UAE takes human dignity into consideration as it seeks to guarantee the security of people and property, in addition to preserving the rights of people, while protecting the rights and achievements of the homeland.”

“The UAE is committed to staying up-to-date with the world’s developments and empowering efforts to face organized crime. The UAE is also aware of the importance of collaborative work with its sister and friend countries to achieve mutual interests. Our country is collaborating continuously with nations across the world and exchanging information on criminal methodology, in order to achieve the best means to face the developments of modern crime,” he added. He asserted that tackling organized crime in the region can only be achieved within a mutual regional and international cooperative framework.

Al Kutbi highlighted the security field as important area due to its various tasks and responsibilities aiming to achieve higher goals in line with the interests of citizens. “Based on this approach, our government has taken different measures to protect against crime and put a limit to its negative impact on society. We are seeking the safety and security of both, citizens and residents, in addition to their property,” he explained.

The paper focused on different topics of significance including: the importance of cooperation and teamwork; continuous consultation and collaboration in addition to exchanging expertise and information; continuous development and training; implementing e-identification and developing border security; and building the regional strategy in the security information field.

Major General Staff Dr. Al Kutbi highlighted the importance of maritime security, as he called for more plans to be established, along with a strategy to face any related risks within this vital area. He also underscored the significance of ports and infrastructure security.

Al Kutbi called for more attention towards the protection of vital facilities whether in the water or on land. “We must assess the readiness of police forces to carry out their tasks and face future challenges,” he said.

He also urged to continue to evaluate current gaps in order to avoid any later risks, “that could endanger homeland security and infrastructure leading us into crisis we could otherwise avoid,” he added.

Al Kutbi continued: “It is essential to develop a strategic methodology to draw a security vision that copes with all developments.”

The deputy commander-in-chief of Abu Dhabi Police toured the accompanying exhibition where he reviewed the latest devices and equipment.

Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police, in addition to a number of security figures from Arab and friend countries, an elite group of speakers, VIPs, officers, and other interested parties were present at the conference.
