ADP has affirmed that motorbikes driving licenses tests are based on approved standards so that the holders of these driving licences can drive in a safe way. 3,038 motorbike driving licenses have been issued this year in comparison with 3,168 licenses issued last year, in Abu Dhabi Emirate.
Abu Dhabi Municipality has decided to move the shops selling motorbikes, their spare parts and accessories (Except Agencies) to Abu Dhabi Emirates suburbs, to preserve the appearance of the City, said Khalifa Mohammad Al Mazroui, Directir general of the Municipality.
Al Mazroui has urged owners of these shops to abide by licensing conditions and they should not repair motorbikes at residential areas, so as to preserve the appearance of the capital. And to avoid changing those areas into maintenance workshops, in addition to avoiding legal punishments which may have their shops closed down and owners referred to the court.
He has stressed the need for unified efforts to confront unsafe driving habits and to curb reckless driving within residential areas, especially the youths who try to show off.
He has lauded ADP efforts in reducing traffic accidents deaths and confronting the dangers of motorbikes, especially through the campaigns launched for such purposes.
"Abu Dhabi Municipality has designated the right side of the Corniche Road for motorcyclists. The use of these designated lanes will allow motorcyclists to ensure their own safety, as well as those of other road users", added Al Mazroui.
Al Mazroui has urged parents not to respond to their children desires and allow them to drive dangerous motorbikes. They can direct their attention to other useful and safe hobbies.
On the other hand, Sheikh Talib Al Shuhi, Director of Preaching at the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments said "Maintaining children safety and directing them to do the right things is a religious duty".
"Violation of laws enacted by the government is against Shari'a, as the traffic rules which are in accordance with laws and legislations reflect the government keenness on people safety. ADP campaign is 'marvelous', as it enhances awareness among community members and draws their attention to the risks of motorbikes", added Al Shuhi.
Lt. Colonel Suhail Al Kheeli, Head of Vehicles Licensing Section at ADP Department of Vehicles and Drivers Licensing said "ADP campaign for educating the public on the risks of motorbikes is a good opportunity to acquaint them with the general safety rules and conditions for driving motorbikes".
""Wearing head helmet, compliance with speed limits and paying great attention to the road are very important for driving motorbikes. We always concentrate on public safety issues while training motorbikes drivers. Motorbike drivers are requested to pay great attention to the road, as the driver may sustain severe injuries in case of accident", added Al Kheeli.
He has parents not to allow their children to drive unlicensed motorbikes and should always monitor them. Motorbikes should be drive in designated places away from residential areas.
