A documentary about Human Trafficking,

two lectures about Human Rights and role of the Security in Society

 

The activities of the 2nd Ramadan Tent Forum organized by the Capital Police Directorate, have attracted a high turnout. The audiences have enjoyed the shows and activities held in collaboration with Al Hilal Bank (Exclusive Sponsor) and a number of public and private institutions and departments.

The Department of Human Rights at ADP has delivered an introductory lecture under the title "Together for the Human Dignity". The lecture was delivered by Lt. Colonel Ahmed Al Kharaz Al Zaabi, Head of International Coordination Section. He spoke about the idea behind the setting up of the Department. It was the police duty to look after human rights of all people living in the UAE, citizens, residents and visitors, in addition to its main role to maintain public safety and security and to protect lives and properties.

He added "The Department pays attention to maintenance of freedoms, rights and dignity of community members as stipulated by the country’s Constitution, Laws, Legislations and International Agreements. The Department is also keen to disseminate human rights culture by issuing periodical brochures, manuals and showing the role of civil society institutions in protecting them. Our role is to give legal advice to human rights violation victim".

"We cooperate with all reports made by Regional and International Human Rights Organizations and make use of them in making human rights plans, policies and strategies in the country", added Al Zaabi.

A documentary depicting the fight against human trafficking and the role of the UAE in combating such crimes through cooperation with the National Committee, Interpol, MoI Committee for Fighting Human Trafficking Crimes and Women and Children Shelterss in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, was shown during the activity. The documentary also showed the programmes prepared by Human Rights Department to curb human trafficking crimes in the country.

The activities included a religious lecture, organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and delivered by Sheikh Mansour Al Rifai, one of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE’s guests. The lecturer stressed the role of Islam in calling for security enhancement which is linked to individual's relationship with God and his loyalty to his country and belonging to his family.

The Department of Crime Scene introduced to the public the advanced equipment and apparatuses they use in crime scene investigations. How evidences are kept, and how they contribute to detection of crimes.

Then the Department presented a theatrical scene showing practical use of crime scene technologies which include a 360° camera which covers the whole crime scene, laser apparatus which shows evidence that can not be seen by naked eye, ultra-violet lamps which assists in showing blood stains and prints.
