298 solar energy sheets stolen from an oil company in the Western Region

 

ADP represented by the Western Region Police has arrested recently a gang consisting of 6 Asians, suspected of stealing 298 solar energy sheets, their market value is Dh800,000, from one of oil exploration companies in the Western Region.  

The thieves have used screwdrivers, iron pieces and kitchen knives to unscrew the bolts from their holding frames at a number of oil wells site. The theft took place at night.

The details of the theft have been revealed by Major General Mohammad bin Al Awadhi Al Minhali, Director General of Human Resources and Acting Director General of Policing Operations at Abu Dhabi Police. The crime has taken place when the security guard was not present at the site, although there is an iron fence around it. The thieves used some tools to cut and remove the fence to go through it.

“An Investigation Team has been formed to look into the matter when the Operations Room received the report of the theft. The investigations carried out by the Western Region Police Directorate and the Investigation Team discovered that there is a gang consisting of a number of persons specialized in solar energy sheets thefts. Necessary measures and coordination have been made with the Capital Police Directorate as the criminals live at an area under its jurisdiction” added Al Minhali.

Colonel Hamad Saeed Al Dhahri, Director of the Western region Police Directorate said “One of the suspected places has been stormed by security men where 4 main suspects are arrested. They are identified as ‘Aa. Aa.’ 30 years old, ‘J. Kh. Kh.’ 33 years old, ‘S. A. S.’ 25 years old and ‘M.N.M.’. Two other suspects are arrested for hiding the stolen goods. They are identified as ‘A.A.Aa.’, 40 years old and ‘A.M.Kh.’, 24 years old. Crime tools are seized for presenting them during the trial”.

“Police have recovered 66 solar energy sheets; some of them are prepared for smuggling outside the country. Some sheets seized while being sold at Mussafah Area. The police is still looking for the remaining sheets” added Al Dhahri.

Colonel Al Dhahri urges all companies and nationals who have establishments or structures outside cities to place security guards and safeguard their sites as enough as possible. They shall coordinate with police authorities and report any thefts from their sites as quickly as possible. Thus the criminals can be arrested before given the opportunity to repeat their crime at another place. All community members are requested to cooperate with police authorities for their personal and properties safety.

According to the Federal Penal Law any theft crime involving more than two persons, during night and climbing a fence the punishment, if the crime is proved, will be temeporary imprisonment.
