The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police launched an introductory campaign to acquaint community members with its Program to reduce traffic accidents, titled "Together" on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, to raise the standard of traffic culture.
 
The campaign embodies the efforts exerted by Traffic and Patrols Directorate to achieve a sustainable traffic safety, as per the strategic priority of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ to make roads safer, and the Traffic and Patrols Directorate’s strategy and purposeful procedures aimed at reducing all reasons that lead to traffic accidents. It also includes distribution of stickers bearing the campaign’s slogan “Together”, and training programs for the directorate’s staff members.

According to Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, the introductory campaign aims to acquaint all segments of society with the Traffic and Patrols’ “Together” program to reduce traffic accidents, and its four creative community-based initiatives launched by the Directorate this year, to reinforce the exerted efforts.

He added: “These initiatives include ‘the Best School Abiding with Traffic Rules’ that aims to promote safety standards and traffic awareness among students; ‘the Best Labor Camp Abiding with Traffic Rules’, which aims to raise the level of traffic culture among workers; the ‘Best Family Abiding with Traffic Rules” initiative for all family members; and the ‘best young driver’ initiative, which targets drivers between the ages of 18 to 25 years. The selection criteria are mainly based on the need of having no record whatsoever of violations or traffic accidents during that period”.
 

 

Al Harthi indicated that the Traffic and Patrols Program to reduce traffic accidents, "together" on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter is increasingly attracting social networks’ users.

In this context, he explained that the total posts, comments and views on Facebook amounted to 8.293. 432, while the number of followers of the program totaled 30 thousand followers. Furthermore, he noted that the number of awareness messages via Twitter amounted to 6220; awareness messages via "YouTube" reached 1.100.000 users. 57 thousand viewers watched a 6-minute video clip on YouTube, which proves the success of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate awareness program.

Al Harthi continued: “A total 42.820.000 individuals “liked” the four community-based initiatives recently launched by the directorate (best driver, best school, best family, and best labor camp traffic-wise). This promotes the efforts to improve the motorists’ behavior and achieve communication and dialogue with them, with a view to promote traffic awareness and achieve a sustainable traffic culture”.
 
According to Al Harthi, these figures reflect the momentum gained by these initiatives among the Abu Dhabi community members, pointing out that these numbers are expected to increase with time. He noted that such actions reflect the directorate’s keenness to develop services and awareness programs provided to the public, by leveraging the latest technological innovations and aspiring to adopt all available options to ensure excellence, as per the instructions of the wise leadership.
