The Abu Dhabi Police’s “My Family, My Responsibility” campaign is an integral part of raising awareness among individuals on how to address risks that threaten their safety. By spreading the domestic safety culture and introducing correct practices and first-aid measures among citizens and residents, individuals can implement its measures and avoid domestic accidents.
Under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the “My Family, My Responsibility” campaign began yesterday in Abu Dhabi. The campaign is carried out by the Abu Dhabi Police under supervision of the Emergency and Public Safety Department in collaboration with the Emirates Nursing Association; it will cover the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The Abu Dhabi Police organized an exhibition carrying the same name as the campaign at the Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi. The exhibition includes a model house through which members of the Emergency and Public Safety Department and the Emirates Nursing Association explain how to handle domestic accidents.
Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations, said: “The Abu Dhabi Police efforts to spread domestic awareness aims to reach all families in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in order to educate both parents and children on how to prevent domestic accidents and how handle them when they occur. These measures are taught so that individuals can minimize complications until emergency personnel arrive.” He also urged the community to avoid all causes of accidents and fires, supervise their children, and warn them against the dangers of playing in kitchens and with electrical appliances.
Moreover, he stressed the need to put sharp tools, matches, and medical drugs out of the reach of children. He urged parents to be careful so that their kids are safeguarded against domestic accidents.
Al Raisi added: “The campaign is a highly important element within the work of the Emergency and Public Safety Department. The department carries out awareness campaigns such as the Community Emergency and the Young First-Aider among others. It is also important to cooperate with partners to bring benefit to the public through education, awareness, and interaction with community members.”
“The police’s sponsorship of the campaign and its support of education in this regard empower its vision to guarantee health and safety for individuals. The police are introducing the public to preventative measures, public safety, and first-aid practices to enable their ability to avoid such accidents. We focus on families, which represent the pillar of society,” he said.
Al Raisi also said: “In order to evaluate the campaign, we should assess the individuals’ ability to deal with accidents and implement applicable measures; the evaluation should be based on the reports of emergency and safety professionals. It will also rely on indications such as the reduction of accidents due to high social awareness. The Abu Dhabi Police is committed to continued collaboration with concerned institutions and bodies in order to achieve the Ministry of Interior’s objectives that aim to maintain security and safety. The members of the civil defense and police forces are tackling accidents by educating the public on prevention.”
