"Law Culture" seminar on labour rights and duties

 

Lt. Colonel (Dr.) Salah Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Respect Office at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior said "The Office services will reach all the Emirates in order to spread the concept of law respect culture and to raise awareness of law among community members".

 He said in a seminar organized by the Office in collaboration with the Police College, Violators Follow up Section and Life Line Hospital "The laborer rights and duties are guaranteed by the Constitution and Law and not by any person or other authority. The Book of (Laborer is Rights and Duties) has been issued in 6 languages. It is simple and considers all educational and cultural levels of laborers. The laborer has every right to read any contract before signing it".

"He also has the right to practice the rituals of his religion. He shall not present his identity documents to any person without ensuring the capacity of the person demanding them. The law give him the right to complain against any harm or abuse or degradation.. He has the right to be provided with a translator when he gives his testimony in front of concerned authorities. His statement shall not e signed by him before reading or read to him it in full", added Al Ghoul.

In respect of his duties he said "The laborer shall not violate the country legislations, or flout the country traditions, norms and heritage. He shall respect all laws such as residency and traffic laws. He shall comply with all rules and regulations of his work and place of work. He shall not take any alcoholic drinks or narcotic drugs etc", added Al Ghoul.

 "The laborer shall cooperate with all security and judicial authorities when is required to do so honestly and truly. He shall present his testimony in front of such authority if required or otherwise he will be charged with justice obstruction. He is required to report any crime that he realizes with one of his senses or he will be liable to punishment by law. He shall refrains from starting or spreading rumors. He also shall not insult or abuse Islamic Religion or any other religion, or he will be punished with imprisonment and fine", added Dr. Al Ghoul

Lt. Colonel (Dr.) Jasim Al Aantli, Criminal Law lecturer at the Police College said "The traditional role of police has changed dramatically. Police organization has changed into a service delivering organization. It focuses on preventing and deterrence of crime. He has urged the audience not to fall victims to fraud crimes especially through mobile phones".

Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Criminal Law Lecturer at the Police College said "The UAU legislator is keen to create a legal center for foreigners to provide them with legal personality, personal freedom and law protection. He urges all to comply with labor and residency law provisions to ensure law protection".
