“Law Culture”: Registration in Population
and ID card System is a national commitment

 

Lt. Colonel (Dr.) Salah Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Interior, urges nationals and residents to start registering for the national ID card immediately.

He confirms the importance of the media campaign organized by the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Interior, represented by the Department of Technical Affairs and Security media to announce the new strategy of the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) under the slogan of “Identity card is your way to prosperity”.

He says registration in Population and ID Card Register is a social and national obligation before being a legal commitment. Individuals always ask government bodies to provide them with services, while some of them do not comply with what is required of them towards the government.

He urges individuals to give correct particulars during registration process in the register to avoid punishment stipulated by Article (18) of EIDA Law, which entails a jail sentence of not more than six months, plus a fine of not more than Dh5,000, or one of these punishments, if he gives false personal information. Every one live in this country must contribute to the success of this programme and assist in achieving its goals, on top of which is to enhance security, to facilitate government services and to raise work efficiency in all local and federal departments.

ID card is a document that guarantees personal identity protection and reduces forgery and fraud as it is a smart card containing unique vital details of bearer such his bio-characteristics, e.g. fingerprint and his electronic signature keys.

It also assists in crime combat and supports control over organized crime. It is a good tool to confront ID cards theft, fraudulent exploitation of public services, it provides updated and accurate information forlaw enforcement authorities about the card bearer in order to assist them in implementing their administrative and legal tasks. It provides an advanced surveillance at the country ports, as well.

It is a safe and accurate method of identification. Its holder can easily get government and non-government services in the future, as it’s the only reference for identification with utmost assurances of security and privacy.
