The Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ajman decided to involve its staff members in the recently formed Policies and Work Systems Committee; to activate the Ministry of Interior’s committees and task forces management methodology. For this end, the Directorate provided every staff member enjoying the required qualifications, the opportunity to submit his candidacy and assume an active role in the Committee. Ultimately, the Directorate will organize an election, allowing staff members to elect the best candidate for the Committee’s membership, as per the conditions and criteria developed for this purpose. This process aims to engage all functional levels in the decision-making process, and review work systems and policies.
Brigadier Mohammad Abdullah Alwan, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ajman, indicated that the idea of involving staff members in the Policies and Work Systems Committee embodies the Government's firm belief in the important role of staff in drafting resolutions that concern them; promoting transparency, abolishing barriers with staff members, and highlighting their creative potential, regardless of the nature of their duties.
“There are three categories of employees eligible for nomination, namely; the military employee, the civil servant and the female staff members. After narrowing down the list of candidates, employees elected the candidate they deemed fit to represent each category. Accordingly, Assistant Fawaz Al Hashimi was elected to represent the military employee category; Ahmed Ibrahim Al Barsi, to represent the civil servant category; and Maha Abdul Rahman Al Amiri as representative of the female staff member category. They will hold office for one full year; after which new members will be elected as per the same mechanism”, explained Brigadier Alwan.
It is noteworthy that the Policies and Work Systems Committee at the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ajman held its first meeting, chaired by the Director General. It was attended by Colonel Khalifa Rashid Al Ghumlasi, Director of the Resources and Support Services; Colonel Dr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Noman, Director of Passports and External Offices Department; Lt. Colonel Ahmed Ibrahim Al Manai, Director of the Entry and Residence Permits Department; Lt. Colonel Khalid Hamad BouShehab, Head of the Legal Affairs Department, in addition to elected employees. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ajman.
On the same note, Brigadier Alwan emphasizes that the elected employees’ role is not limited to examining the recommendations of the various institutional task forces followed up by the Committee. It mainly consists of delivering the Committee’s decisions and recommendations to the staff members they represent, so as to promote transparency and ensure timely delivery of all orders and instructions across all functional categories.
