The Ministry of Interior showcased the best distinguished practices in the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Sector, during a specialized forum organized by the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ras Al Khaimah. The two-day Forum was attended by the directors general of Foreign Affairs Departments and a number of officers from the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Sector in the Country.

The Forum was intended to share experiences and improve productivity through the best initiatives that are applied in the private sector, and have achieved positive results in developing work.

In his address at the Forum’s inaugurating ceremony, attended by more than 100 members from the Sector, Brigadier Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ras al Khaimah, noted that there are many outstanding initiatives in the sector. These initiatives and practices have generated positive results through experience.

“Each and every Department and section in the sector has experienced an outstanding antecedence or experience in one field of work or another. For this end, we have been keen to organize such a forum, to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences. It is noteworthy that this Forum provides an opportunity for communication and exchanging knowledge and ideas at all career levels”, added Captain Al Nuaimi.

He noted that the coveted results of the Forum lie in exchanging distinguished  experiences that help to adopt better practices in terms of performance and effectiveness; enhance productivity and efficiency; and develop the provided services,  in order to achieve the highest satisfaction levels for customers and staff alike.

The work papers submitted during the Forum shed light on the many initiatives and practices applied in the various Naturalization departments at the Country level. These initiatives include the E-reference initiative, with respect to all decisions governing the entry of foreigners; converting them to electronic files; to allow easy search. This system also indexes folders and categorizes them by topic. Another initiative is “Al Juffair”, an electronic system to follow-up operational plans and remarks of the Directorate’s reviewers.

Furthermore, the Forum shed light on the “Welcome” initiative, aimed to provide all the services for the elderly and people with special needs in one place, through the comprehensive employee who completes transactions using state-of-the art technologies.

The Forum also introduced the “Imdad” initiative, an electronic device to simplify procedures by indicating the transaction’s required documents simply by pressing the service type.  Moreover, the Hawa (Eve) Committee acquainted the participants with the women's initiatives applied in some of the Naturalization Departments. The participants also learnt about the “Aounak” project, through which some segments of society are provided with services directly at their work places, for being unable to review the Department. The Forum also highlighted the “Amer” Project and the main services provided to the public through this initiative.
