Colonel Ali Salim Al Khayal, Director of MoI Interpol Office, extended his thanks and appreciation to the significant efforts carried out by the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO) – INTERPOL in fighting crime. He highlighted the benefits the Ministry of Interior receives through many capacities provided by the INTERPOL, and the relationship that connects it with most countries in this field.
Al Khayal gave an explanatory presentation in the Al Ain Police Officers Club, about the INTERPOL’s National Office at the ministry- Abu Dhabi office.
The lecture was attended by Colonel Mohammed Suhail Al Rashidi, Deputy Director of Al Ain Police Directorate, a number of public prosecutors, police officers, and members of investigations and forensic investigations in Al Ain.
Colonel Al Khayal presented the role of the INTERPOL’s National Office as a link between the UAE Police General Headquarters, Systems of Justice, Customs, and INTERPOL.
He added: “The international organization now includes 190 countries around the world and has the largest criminal database.”
He gave an explanation about the color-coded publications issued by the international organization that categorize different groups of people such as individuals who are wanted for justice, fugitive alerts, wanted or missing people, unidentified bodies, or to warn against new serious criminal activities that threaten the public.
Al Kayal recounted some stories regarding the success achieved by INTERPOL’s National Office in arresting criminals after they fled outside of the country.
He pointed out that having access to the information data of the INTERPOL aids in arresting people wanted for justice.
Major Mubarak Al Khaili of INTERPOL office in Abu Dhabi gave a historical overview about the INTERPOL, its structure, and the languages used in the organization, which include Arabic, French, and Spanish in addition to the services provided by this organization.
