The number of beneficiaries of awareness campaigns conducted by the Community Police Department at Abu Dhabi Police has increased by 14% over the past year 2011, revealed the Department.
According to the statistics, as many as 825 field visits have been implemented in 2011, with an increase of 19% compared to the year 2010 which witnessed 669 awareness visits. A total of 22888 ADP personnel and members of the public have benefited from community awareness lectures and workshops, representing an increase of 14.2 % in the year 2010, which confirms the increasing demand for participation in workshops and lectures organized by the community police as part of its annual awareness plan to disseminate its goals among the general public.
Lt. Col. Mubarak bin Mehairoum, Director of Community Police in Abu Dhabi Police said the community police department's engagement with the various segments of the society is part of our priorities because it involves a preventive role in promoting security and safety of the community apart from assisting in the joint cooperation between the police and the community in solving many issues, pointing out that the role of community policing is a protective role to enhance our security march.
During 2011, the Department also implemented a total of 489 visits including visits to sessions devoted to the wedding and obituary and public majlis, with an increase of 319 visits implemented in 2010.
Among the visits which show the human face of community policing and increases the bonds of cooperation between the community police and the members of the community, the Department has implemented a total of 40 visits to patients in hospitals in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in addition to visits to the elderly in 2011.The Department also participated and organized five blood donation campaigns.
community policing is one of the most important strategic achievements which Abu Dhabi police has implemented, and one of the most modern police systems which contributes to maintaining security and safety of the community, through a policing concept that aims to build a bridge of trust and cooperation between the police and the public; thus enhancing security and seeking to gain the confidence of members of the community.
