A study by ADP warns against returning to drugs addiction and abuse

The ADP Research and Security Studies Center has issued a study under the title "Financial and Legal Dimensions of Addiction Phenomenon and returning to Drugs abuse", by Researcher (Dr.) Mohammad Qadri Hassan.

The study aims to identify the risks of this phenomenon and reasons of addicts and abusers relapse after completing their treatment programme, motives, concept of care and rehabilitation of drugs addict, methods of care and rehabilitation and effect of anti- narcotics law on curbing the phenomenon and reducing opportunities of relapse.

The study also highlights the spread of drugs abuse and addiction phenomenon and the debate of sociologists about it. Some believe that it is an illness and a form of psychiatric disorder which starts since childhood. Some believe that it is a habit which one acquires from the environment in which the addict lives with others.

The study shows that effects of addiction reach the addict's family and the community because it spoils an individual and confuses his role in social system as a whole. The society loses an effective element when addicts do not join the working force of the country.

According to the study, economic, social and personal circumstances are key drives for drugs abuse and entering addiction world. These drives motivate treated addicts to return to abuse. They encourage abusers care and keeping them away from addiction and blocking the way for those who have succeeded in getting rid of addiction so as not to return to addiction.

The study proposes a number of treatment methods, social and psychological care programmes for abusers. The study mentions the laws and legislations that punish abusers. It stresses the importance of awareness campaigns.
