For the first time in the UAE, Abu Dhabi shoppers can now issue criminal status certificates regarding “good behavior and reputation”, in English and Arabic. The Abu Dhabi Police Forensic Evidence Department opened an office to issue “criminal status” certificates at Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi, to facilitate procedures and speedy delivery of services, thus gaining customer satisfaction.
Colonel Abdulrahman Al Hamadi, Department Director, inaugurated the new office on Wednesday, saying that this initiative is part of the police leadership’s solicitude to achieve the sustainability of service quality provided to citizens and residents, the expeditious completion of their procedures, to promote ties with the audience.
Al Hamadi added that the employees of the office, located in the vicinity of Community Police Bureau on the ground floor of Marina Mall, have already started providing services to the shoppers, saving them efforts and time. He noted that similar offices will be opened in other malls in the future.
Captain Sultan Ahmed Al Tunaiji, Head of fingerprints section at the Forensic Evidence Department said that this step is part of Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy to facilitate the procedures of issuing forensic status certificates, as this helps provide excellent services to everyone and complements the police service system of issuing such certificates in Abu Dhabi.
Regarding work hours and days at the Office, Al Tunaiji explained that opening hours are from 3:00 pm till 10:00 pm except on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. As for application procedures, they are simple and easy, where the shopper (citizen or resident) can fill an application to get a certificate, after providing an ID which is a main condition to carry out the procedure, paying the required fees and presenting the resident’s work license if any. All verification procedures are completed and the certificate is issued shortly after that.
Al Tunaiji went on to explain that the applicant is notified upon printing and issuing of the certificate by an SMS on his mobile, asking him to ollect his certificate from the office. In case of a criminal precedent, the certificate cannot be delivered, and the client is notified about the need to refer to the Forensic fingerprint section in Al Qurm Street, facing Abu Dhabi Officers Club, during official work hours.
The certificate is issued in either English or Arabic, depending on the applicant’s request, shortly after the application is handed in. Additional fees may be incurred to translate the certificate, and the customer may hand in complaints and suggestions. Fees can be paid via electronic AED or all types of bank credit cards or in cash.
The Fingerprint Section Director stated that this certificate used to be issued only in comprehensive police centers in Abu Dhabi, after filling in the application form manually or electronically. But in order to facilitate procedures on customers, save time and effort and increase customer satisfaction, this office was opened as a services initiative, with the possibility of applying electronically on the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ website, by punching in the ID number and reviewing the nearest police center.
