The Ministry of Interior has examined the implementation of the Environmental Features and Impacts Assessment Plan at its organizational units’ level, during a meeting held by the Green Applications Committee at the Ministry, under the chairmanship of Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services at Abu Dhabi Police; the Chairman of the Committee.
The meeting comes within the framework of the Federal Government strategy aiming to preserve the environment and sustainable development, and implement best global practices in green applications.
Furthermore, Eng. Captain Rashid Khalfan A-Kindi, Occupational Safety Branch Manager at the Department of Strategy and Performance Development explained that the Environmental Features and Impacts Assessment Plan aims at assessing policing activities and actions that have an impact on the environment in order to develop appropriate solutions to reduce its effects and minimize its risk.
He added that the plan focuses on the implementation of field visits for the police leaderships sector in its first stage. The second stage shall involve the rest of the organizational units of the Ministry of Interior at the Country level; in order to assess the environmental effects manifestations. Moreover, he pointed out that the plan also includes the identification of policing activities and actions that have an impact on the environment, and then select the procedures currently in force for the preservation of the environment, and then assess its impact environmentally, the effectiveness of current measures, and consider the possibility of further proposed measures which enhance the environmental performance of the Ministry.
Notably, the other proposed measures include programs, initiatives, projects and awareness-raising workshops; aiming to promote efforts to preserve the environment and increase awareness among staff of the Ministry. These measures are to be applied after finalizing the records of the assessment of environmental effects and manifestations and visit reports.
