On Mother’s Day, the Al Mafraq Juveniles Care Center at Abu Dhabi Police (Women’s branch), organized a recreational day for inmate mothers, their children, and minor inmates. The events come in line with the Center's plans to bring joy and happiness to inmates.
Captain Noura Safar Rashid, Manager of the women’s branch at the Al Mafraq Juveniles Care Center, indicated that the Center has decided to dedicate one day of every month for such recreational events, to enhance the family environment provided by the center for inmates and their children, as well as to minors, to restore their self-confidence via the awareness and guidance programs. Such programs develop the spirit of virtue; and emphasize that prison is not the end of the road; and that will and determination are the main pillars of a new reality, free from the past’s mishaps.
Captain Safar explained that this recreational day, which coincides with Mother’s Day, embodies the Abu Dhabi Police's strategy, to promote police role within society. She added that most of the Center’s staff, administrators, psychologists and social workers, took part in the events, which raised the morale of inmates.
In her address to inmates on the occasion, psychologist Rima Audi called on mothers to dedicate more attention and care to their children, and spend enough time with them, to make sure they grow up in a healthy environment, filled with love and understanding. Moreover, she pointed out that a nice word and a smile can be a miracle cure for all problems. It has been proven that cruelty and severity are counterproductive, and cause children to run away from home, to seek goodness elsewhere.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of employees from the Center, as well as mothers and their children. It included awareness lectures, entertainment segments and cultural competitions, in addition to a face painting event for children. The ceremony was followed by a lunch; and presents were distributed to all inmate mothers, their children and female minors.
