Recently, the Abu Dhabi Police Futsal Championship was launched under the Abu Dhabi Police annual sportive program of 2012 with the participation of 16 teams representing the different departments of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.
Participating teams were distributed into four groups. The first group included the teams of the Ports Security, Operations Department, Society Police and Purchases Department. The second group included the teams of the Capital Police, Strategy Department, Forensic Evidence and Vehicles Licensing Department. The third one comprised the Governmental and Diplomatic team, Al-Ain team, Western Region team and Information Registration team; while the fourth group included External Regions, Personnel Affairs, Emergency and Safety department and Punitive and Correctional Institution teams.
The inauguration championship matches concluded with the Governmental and Diplomatic team winning against the Information Registration team 5-3, Capital Police team winning against the Vehicles licensing team 9-2, while the match of External Regions and Punitive and Correctional Institution was a draw. Matches were supervised by referees Ahmed Al-Taniji and Nabil Nu’man.
The championship marks the attentiveness of the Strategy and Performance Development Department to diversify sport championships and competitions and to encourage participation from the widest range of police members.
