A delegation from the Forensic Evidence Department at the General Directorate of security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi police, participated in in the events of the twenty-second International Symposium, held in the State of Maryland in the United States, with the participation of some 800 global experts.
Lit Colonel, Mariam Ahmed Qassem Al Qahtani, head, Department of Criminal Biology and Head of Abu Dhabi Police delegation pointed out that the Symposium examined the identification using DNA technique through state- of –the- art methods.
Abu Dhabi police presented a working paper on the use of new methods in DNA examination, according to which testing time is shortened from 4 days to one day only and the cost is reduced by half, she pointed out.
This mechanism has been applied globally in the laboratories of Abu Dhabi police and the FBI forensic laboratories, United States.
She added: the paper included the stages of development in the Department of forensic evidence and gaining international accreditation, and its partnership with the international forensic evidence institutions.
The symposium included a number of workshops on how to analyze the mixture in DNA sample, among others, Al Qahtani further noted.
Many lectures tackled the latest procedures used to increase the productivity of DNA laboratories, as well as the main and latest equipment and techniques used in this area.
