The Social Support Centers Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters held a seminar on the “Skills of Marital Life Management” at the Rotana- Al Ain Hotel. The seminar attracted a large audience and was attended by representatives of government and local bodies and entities in Al Ain.

Colonel Ali Al Badi, Director of the Social Support Center in Al Ain, stressed the importance of such seminars, which aim to reinforce family ties, and achieve the security and stability of the family entity to prevent the kind of problems that may affect the fabric that holds families together; especially children.

Dr. Shafea Al Neyadi, from the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), presented a paper titled “Marital Rights and Duties”. He spoke about the appropriate couples’ relation; the importance of communication; turning a blind eye to the spouse’s lapses, and cooperation. He also stressed that both spouses should assume the responsibility of solving the issues amicably, to avoid the negative effects on children.

Preacher Taleb Al Shehhi, from the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, discussed the importance of religious restraints and faith as a key pillar to family life. He also highlighted the golden rules for a happy and successful marriage, and called for adhering to prayer, and endeavoring to resolve conflicts in marriage.

Khalifa Mohammed Al Mehrezi, Dubai Courts counselor, spoke about skills and art of dealing with the spouse, the reasons behind the increasing rate of divorce, and the means to address this social problem, which undermines the stability of the families.

Moza Al Qubaisi, from the Social Support Centers Department, presented a paper titled “The Importance of Family in Promoting the Security and Stability of Society”. She explained the concept of social security, which focuses on providing security, stability, and peace of mind within society. She noted that the social support centers were established to achieve the important goal of social stability; notably resolving family conflicts and social problems; and combating family-related crimes amicably.

Adding further, Ms. Al Qubaisi said: “The social Support Centers handle social issues that are related to negative behaviors of individuals, which are mainly caused by a dysfunctional family structure, and lack of marital life management skills.”She also noted that the skills of a successful happy marriage include trust; avoiding jealousy, doubts, and dishonesty; and adherence to the concept of confidentiality and privacy of family matters.”

Towards the end of the seminar, Colonel Yasser Al Sharqi Al Ameri, Deputy Director of the Social Support Centers Department, honored the participating lecturers and counselors.
