Major Mohamed Al Shaer Al Dhaheri, from the Finance and Support Services General Directorate at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) obtained a Master’s Degree in Police Management. His thesis was titled “Public Employees Selection Methods- Comparative Study”

The researcher submitted important recommendations in his thesis aimed at developing government and police work. He called upon public institutions and ministries to establish scientifically convenient foundations and standards to ensure a suitable environment for the success in the employees’ selection and recruitment process, and to attract the most qualified human resources for management positions.

Researcher Al Dhaheri called seeking diverse resources for filling the different levels of management vacancies (Top, middle and lower level). “Seeking suitable management cadres can be achieved through advertising for vacancies, then conducting neutral and impartial testing of potential applicants,” he said. He also called for giving priority to the ministry’s employees over other applicants, and elaborating diverse methods for management employees’ selection and recruitment, notably testing and advance preparation via vocational training. He also stressed the need to conduct scientific testing and interviews based on competence, efficiency, and seniority standards in the process to select potential applicants for management positions.

The panel of professors who supervised the thesis presentation included Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fawzi Nowaiji, Public Law Professor- Chairman of the panel and main supervisor; Dr. Sam Suleiman Dalla, Associate Professor of Public Law- Sharjah University; Dr. Ashraf Hussain Atwah, Associate Professor of Public Law- Al Ain University of Science and Technology; and Dr. Nasser Mohammad Al Baker, Director of Postgraduate Studies at Police College- Assistant Supervisor.
