Community Police Discuss Concerns of Jet-Skis at Al Raha Beach
In its third Partner’s Meeting recently held at the Madinat Khalifa Police Station in Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Community Police Department addressed the issue regarding the nuisance of jet skis that have been disturbing tourists in the Al Munirah, Al Bandar region of Al Raha Beach.
The meeting reviewed the dimensions of the concern in terms of inconveniencing beachgoers, most particularly the tourists, and of the dangers that they could be exposed to as a result of the sport being frequently practiced at the seafront locations.
Captain Salem Suhail Al Ameri, Chief of the Community Police Affairs Section at the Peripheral Regions Directorate, assured that concerted efforts will be made in order to address the problem and to find the most appropriate solutions that focus on providing a safe and orderly location for the jet skiers to practice their sport.
The participants recommended the establishment of a working group that would continuously follow-up with and intensify awareness about the risks of jet skis for beachgoers. The group could additionally allocate a dedicated area for the jet skiers to practice the touristic sport away from areas where families and children swim by implementing a fenced area in the water; while also enhancing the oversight of the locations and reporting any abuse of the rules to the authorities.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Department of Transport, the Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority (CICPA), the Al Shahama Municipality and the Aldar Properties company.
