During a meeting held recently at the Department of Community Police at Abu Dhabi Police, a delegation from the Dubai Police reviewed the ADP Community Police Department’s initiatives and efforts in the field of community work. The meeting highlighted the efforts that have been made in order to communicate with partners and volunteers, and how these initiatives strengthen both public satisfaction and community services.

Colonel Mohammed Al Hosni, from the Directorate General of Community Protection and Crime Prevention, at the General Secretariat of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; welcomed the delegation of the Dubai Police, headed by Colonel Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saadi, Director of Community Relations. Al Hosni stressed that the nation’s police and security work is a single institutional system where police departments and agencies cooperate in order to enhance the process of security and stability and protect the society against all forms of crime, thus achieving the strategy of the Ministry of Interior.

Al Hosni praised the cooperation and partnership between the various sectors of society as well as the efforts of the volunteers with the police. “Through community work, there is room to accommodate further outstanding initiatives that serve individuals in the interest of our society,” he said.

Major Yusuf Faraj Al Hassan, Acting Deputy Head of the Community Police Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, highlighted the journey of the Community Police and the efforts that have been exerted in order to meet the challenges through utilizing contemporary scientific methods. “What distinguishes the experience of the Community Police is how it considers the needs of the community and works from the outset in order to identify what issues require rapid intervention and resolution,” he said. “This experience is used in a number of the city’s neighborhoods and relies on defining the best methods of communication and on building partnerships as per the latest international theories and models that solve problems based on a scientific basis, which includes survey and analysis, and response and assessment.”

He also stressed the keenness of the ADP to pay attention to the role of the volunteers, as they have put forth distinguished modules for volunteers to participate in achieving the goals of the Community Police in communicating with the society. Also during the meeting, the delegates reviewed some of the models highlighting the issues that have been successfully resolved alongside some of the initiatives, projects, and various awareness programs. The delegates were able to ask questions and receive answers to their queries throughout the meeting.
