The Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Sports Activity Section, held a preparatory meeting to discuss the calendar of sporting activities for the 2016 season. The meeting was held at the Police Club in Abu Dhabi, and was attended by a large number of liaison officers and administrators from various departments of the Abu Dhabi Police.

The meeting was chaired by Captain Muhammad Al Maamari, Chief of the Sports Activity Section, and Muhammad Al Meqbali, Supervisor of Competitions and Championships. The meeting discussed the 2016 season championships and the new season championships, which included 50 competitions of various sports and a sporting festival for those with special needs which will be held nation-wide late January. The 2016 sporting championships will include the following: Commander-in-chief Shield; Directors General Shield; community Police Championship; and Ramadan Championship.

Al Maamari mentioned that the attendees agreed on the following championships for the different departments of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, including various kinds of marksmanship, modern rowing, road race, athletics, Ironman, football, hiking, tug-of-war, long-distance swimming, cycling, volleyball and bowling. He pointed out that the championships will be held at different periods of time.
