In cooperation with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the women’s ward in the Al Wathba section, at the Punitive and Correctional Establishments Department of Abu Dhabi Police, organized a religious awareness lecture titled “Dhu Al Hijjah”.

Captain Shamsah Al Yaqoubi, Chief of Women’s Ward at the Punitive and Correctional Institutions Department – Al Wathba Section, indicated that the section organizes year-round religious activities and events to reinforce religious faith among female inmates and enhance the deterrent effect of religion on criminal behaviour, so as to help them overcome the social and psychological problems; adopt positive ideas that would help them face life challenges at the correctional establishment and following their release. Such activities also contribute to raising the level of awareness among female inmates and developing positive behaviors.

“The lecture which was organized under the theme “Dhu Al Hijjah” contributes to instilling educational concepts in inmates, raising the level of their religious culture, and promoting the values and teachings of Islam, in a way that positively impacts and boosts their self-confidence,” she added.

For her part, Dr. Naima Lafghani, from the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, tackled a number of topics that focused on the merits of Dhu Al Hijjah and the rituals of worship during this month, in addition to fasting the first ten days of Dhu Al Hijjah, the Day of Arafah, the Hajj rituals, and the lessons learned.
